Why Recycle?

Why Recycle?

Sustainability and environmental responsibility are at the core of what we do and have been since 1989.
We are all responsible for reversing climate change

A climate emergency has been declared across the globe. Never has it been more important for all of us to step up and do our bit to meet climate change targets and businesses are especially charged with doing better.

For us at Stan Ellis, this is not a new concept. We have been dedicated to recycling and sustainability since our inception in 1989. Luckily, our experience and expertise in this ever-developing industry mean we can make it easy for organisations – especially those producing large volumes of wastepaper such as printers, publishers, mailing houses, and packaging producers – to not only dispose of their waste, recycle it in a responsible way, but benefit financially from it.

Did you know that it takes 70% less energy and water to recycle paper than to create new paper from trees? Recycling plastic reduces CO2 emissions, avoids it going into landfill, and prevents it from finding its way into the environment, including our rivers and seas where it is harmful to wildlife.

The UK government has set a net-zero target for 2050 and we need to reduce emissions by 7.6% every year to prevent catastrophic change. These are challenging targets so we all need to contribute and that especially means businesses who can make a bigger impact.

We can help play a part in enabling your business to be more sustainable and ethical, while also providing a practical solution to your waste disposal needs. Contact us to find out more.

By recycling just one tonne of paper, we can save 17 trees and 4000 KW of energy - that's enough to power a house for a year. Pollution is also reduced by 95 percent when used paper is made into new sheets.
A typical office generates about one pound of paper per employee and that from that paper, 77 percent of what is wasted in offices across the country is recyclable.
Plastic takes up to 1,000 years to degrade in a landfill. Recycling plastic takes 88% less energy than making plastic from raw materials.
A single ton of recycled plastic saves (approximately):
23 cubic metres of space in a landfill
3114 litres of oil
20,786 megajoules of electricity
